I grew up listening to Celtic music and have always enjoyed the simplicity of its melodies and the energy of its jigs and reels. I used this piece as an experiment in combining the simplicity of Celtic melodies with the more complex harmonies of Classical music. I decided to write this piece using a traditional Irish flute with no keys to provide a more authentic sound.
