This piece is a comedic tone poem about my rejection from the University of Idaho's Ballroom
Team. I auditioned for the team my senior year. The rejection was no surprise, but what irked me was the rejection letter that they sent. They had not bothered to proof read and the opening statement was "I am sorry, there is no a spot for you on the ballroom team." The opening is a fugue occurring before I open the e-mail. As I read the fugue falls apart, becoming increasingly discordant and angry. The piece then transitions to a flashback of the audition with a broken waltz filled with tri-tones and parallel fifths. The third section represents me trying to get over my frustrations with a Celtic dance tune. This fails as memories of the broken waltz take over. In the final section I deal with my anger and it subsides into a disappointed, but final resolution.
